about

"I'll use it to impress the ladies" - Rich McClane
"You're extremely talented" - My Mom

Chicago Love is a mostly solo effort that was close to fifteen years in the making. You may even call it a compilation - a compilation of all the rejected songs from previous bands, or songs that just never got finished over the years. Castler brings you three part harmonies, keyboards, claves, and even a musical leg in one disc-shaped package (unless you go digital, then it's just...there. poor CDs. Never stood a chance). Inspired by the versatility of Billy Joel, the album strives to just be itself and not fit into one mold. Who wants to listen to the same three chords over and over again anyway? Some people do, I guess. No judgement. But that's not what's happening here. There's slow stuff, fast stuff, rockin' stuff, and mellow stuff. No discrimination. Just music. Sweet, sweet, music.

*This album has been specially formulated to sound like magic in the stock earphones of your mobile device. Because I know how you're listening.

**Note - the full album on iTunes includes a cover of Rilo Kiley's "Always"

And so it was. It was decided that "Derek" wasn't a very rock and roll name, and so a band name was deemed necessary. And so, despite being just one man, the facade of a band named Castler was created. ... more
